Vegan leather from used coffee grounds: turning waste into value
ReCrea Coffee Shop will be a circular coffee hub, collecting post-brewed coffee grounds from our operations and community, creating a “Mottainai” moment, and collaborating with innovators to turn this coffee waste into vegan leather for sustainable products.
At IGES SDGs Training, I learned about the circular economy and Satoyama. As a Guatemalan, coffee is central to my identity. Inspired by its waste, I envisioned vegan leather from coffee grounds, transforming waste into valuable products while promoting mindful consumption.
