SuKha is a Canadian fashion designer born in Saudi Arabia, ethnically Bengali. With a science-based degree, SuKha found her calling as a sustainbility-focused fashion icon, racking up over 250 thousand followers on social media inspiring women and queer folks.
“Something to Wear”: Up-cycling kimono to ignite sustainability in fashion
Tonnes of traditional kimonos are discarded while toxic fast fashion takes lead with trendier designs. In an effort to protect cultural heritage, reduce environmental waste and inspire slow fashion, new enduring and innovative designs are required to keep up with modern women.
Up-cycling kimono is not a new idea but with my strong intuition in fashion, my designs are enduring and innovative; a never-before-seen take on transforming traditional materials from inspirations coming from western and south Asian aesthetics focused on women’s fashion.
